Viv is a mother to Jo and a grandmother to Eddie. She has two dogs and 24 chickens which live on three allotments behind her house. She was brought up in the farming community and enjoys rural activities.
She has had a varied career starting as a WRAF officer, then working for the Atomic Energy Research Establishment where she was a business analyst (long before the term had been dreamed up). She subsequently moved into IT as a systems analyst and ended as an IT Director for the book publishers Hodder&Stoughton. She was ordained in 1999 and became a full time priest in 2000 serving in two multi parish benefices.
In 2007 Viv moved into full time Police Chaplaincy as the Lead Chaplain for West Midlands Police. Due to personal circumstances she left there after two years and after a career break she became the lead chaplain for Northants Police. During her break from paid police chaplaincy she was the volunteer chaplain for Central Motorway Police Group which is a regional Roads Policing collaboration between Staffordshire and West Midlands Police. Whilst with them she has worked on a number of projects around preventing suicide jumps from motorway bridges, supporting those bereaved by RTCs on our network and leading worship at the annual Roadpeace service. Whilst serving on a part time basis with Northants Police she continued her involvement with CMPG and on retiring from Northants she has continued to support CMPG as the lead chaplain for the collaboration.
Viv had been involved with the National Police Memorial charity for the last four years acting as its administrator. She is also Chair of the Warwickshire Rural Community Council which is a charity dedicated to providing services to rural communities and specialising in transport requirements.
Viv has been involved with the leadership of PCUK from its days as NACP until the present time. She has vast experience as a police chaplain in a variety of forces and has also been Chair of a large charity for over five years having served on its board for twenty.
